Check full India schedule with dates, events & timings for Commonwealth Games 2026 Glasgow edition.
The Commonwealth Games 2026 officially get underway in Glasgow on Thursday, with India sending a 126-strong contingent, significantly smaller than in previous editions. Several of India’s traditional medal-winning sports, including wrestling, badminton, shooting, hockey, cricket, squash, table tennis, and archery, are not part of the 2026 programme, leading to a truncated team.
India, who finished fourth in the 2022 Birmingham Games with 61 medals, will be relying on a handful of disciplines like athletics, weightlifting, boxing, and judo to deliver podium finishes. Despite the reduced squad, the contingent features a mix of experienced campaigners and promising youngsters eager to make their mark on the global stage.
The opening ceremony will take place at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. The event will kick off at 10:30 PM IST.
